Un disjoncteur est un interrupteur électrique actionné automatiquement, conçu pour protéger un circuit électrique contre les dommages causés par un courant excessif résultant d'une surcharge ou d'un court-circuit. Sa fonction principale est d'interrompre le flux de courant lorsqu'un défaut est détecté. Contrairement à un fusible, qui ne fonctionne qu'une seule fois puis doit être remplacé, un disjoncteur peut être réarmé (manuellement ou automatiquement) pour reprendre son fonctionnement normal.
