Potenciômetros deslizantes (Pots) utilizam um elemento resistivo e um contato deslizante para formar um divisor de tensão ajustável. Se apenas dois terminais forem usados — uma extremidade do elemento e o contato ajustável — ele funciona como um resistor variável ou reostato. Os potenciômetros deslizantes são escolhidos pelo valor de resistência do elemento, faixa de deslocamento, tipo de montagem, dissipação de potência, tipo de ajuste e por serem duplos, motorizados ou do tipo fader padrão.
