Lenovo Expands Global Manufacturing Network with New Facility in Riyadh
On February 9, 2025, Lenovo Group and Alat (Alaat) held a groundbreaking ceremony in Riyadh for a new manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia. The plant will be located in the Riyadh Integrated Special Logistics Zone (SILZ) and will cover an area of 200,000 square meters.
The facility is designed with high sustainability standards and will produce millions of Saudi-made laptops, desktops, and servers annually once it becomes operational in 2026.
Strategic Partnership and Investment Details
This milestone follows the completion of a $2 billion, three-year zero-interest convertible bond investment announced on January 8, 2025. The agreement, which was first unveiled in May 2024, strengthens Lenovo’s partnership with Alat and aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader push for technological innovation and local manufacturing.
A Key Addition to Lenovo’s Global Manufacturing Footprint
Once operational, this new Saudi factory will become an essential part of Lenovo’s global manufacturing network, which already spans over 30 markets, including China, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, Mexico, and the U.S.
The facility is expected to enhance Lenovo’s global supply chain resilience and flexibility, while also providing faster and more efficient service to customers in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region.
This expansion reflects Lenovo's commitment to localizing production, reducing logistical costs, and increasing its presence in emerging markets.
