The project will significantly enhance Texas' position as a leader in advanced manufacturing technologies. Over the next three years, SpaceX plans to add 1 million square feet of new manufacturing space at the Bastrop site. The facility will focus on producing silicon wafers and components for the Starlink network, including advanced packaged chips, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and semiconductor failure analysis laboratories. Once completed, the facility will become the largest PCB and panel-level packaging (PLP) production base in North America.
The expansion will strengthen SpaceX's ability to manufacture key components for its Starlink system, enhancing the delivery of high-speed, low-latency internet service worldwide. The investment is also expected to drive regional economic growth by creating high-quality jobs and stimulating further technological development.
