xAI Expands AI Infrastructure with Dell’s NVIDIA-Powered Servers
According to reports, xAI is set to deploy Dell’s AI servers featuring NVIDIA’s cutting-edge GB200 superchips, with deliveries expected later this year. The agreement is said to be in its final negotiation phase, with some details yet to be finalized.
This major procurement aligns with xAI’s expansion of its AI computing infrastructure, including its Memphis Supercluster, which serves as the backbone for its large-scale AI model training.
Dell Strengthens AI Market Position with xAI Deal
Dell has been making significant strides in the AI server market, particularly as demand for NVIDIA GPU-powered servers continues to soar. The company reported $2.9 billion in AI server revenue last quarter, reflecting the growing reliance on high-performance computing (HPC) for AI workloads.
In December 2024, Dell confirmed it had already deployed tens of thousands of GPUs for xAI’s Memphis-based supercomputer. With this new deal, Dell is poised to further cement its position as a key supplier for AI infrastructure, alongside competitors such as Supermicro, HPE, and Lenovo.

Musk’s broader AI ambitions extend beyond xAI, with Tesla also emerging as a major AI server buyer for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Dojo supercomputer initiatives.
