San Jose, California, March 19, 2025 – Solidigm, a leading provider of enterprise data storage solutions, has announced the launch of its innovative liquid-cooled enterprise solid-state drive (eSSD) at the GTC AI Conference 2025. This groundbreaking technology is set to eliminate the need for traditional cooling fans in data centers, paving the way for fully liquid-cooled AI servers.

Revolutionizing Cooling for AI Data Centers

As the demand for high-performance AI training servers increases, data centers are shifting towards liquid cooling solutions. However, traditional SSD direct liquid cooling (DLC) designs have limitations, primarily cooling only one side of the drive and restricting hot-swappability.

Solidigm has collaborated with NVIDIA to address these key challenges and develop an efficient, fully liquid-cooled SSD solution. This collaboration ensures that all server components, including SSDs, meet the thermal requirements of next-generation liquid-cooled AI architectures.

Introducing the Solidigm D7-PS1010 E1.S SSD

At GTC 2025, Solidigm is showcasing its first liquid-cooled enterprise SSD featuring the D7-PS1010 E1.S in a 9.5mm form factor. This drive, combined with a specially designed cooling plate, significantly improves thermal management and system efficiency in high-density AI workloads.

According to Kevin Noh, Solidigm’s Co-CEO,“Our latest innovation combines the advanced Solidigm E1.S SSD with a custom liquid cooling solution, ensuring maximum efficiency, improved data center stability, and simplified maintenance.”

Key Benefits of Solidigm’s Liquid-Cooled SSDs

Eliminates the need for cooling fans, reducing energy consumption and operational costs.

Supports AI-centric workloads, making liquid-cooled AI servers more feasible.

Improves system reliability, enhancing SSD performance and longevity in high-density server environments.

Compatible with emerging AI infrastructures, enabling scalable and efficient data storage solutions.

Market Availability and Future Applications

Solidigm’s E1.S SSD and liquid cooling plate are expected to be deployed in AI servers in the second half of 2025. This innovation underscores Solidigm’s leadership in enterprise SSD technology, reinforcing its commitment to pushing the boundaries of storage efficiency.

Previously, Solidigm pioneered the "Ruler" SSD form factor, setting new industry standards for data center storage optimization. The D7-PS1010 E1.S, with its 15mm variant, continues this legacy, offering greater flexibility for both air-cooled and liquid-cooled storage architectures.

As a subsidiary of SK hynix, Solidigm continues to drive cutting-edge storage innovations for AI, edge computing, and hyperscale data centers, ensuring a seamless transition into a data-centric future.
