Los transformadores de detección de corriente están diseñados para detectar y medir el flujo de corriente en un conductor aislado o en un devanado primario y producir una corriente alterna proporcional en un devanado secundario. El rango de frecuencias es de 2 Hz a 1 MHz, con una corriente nominal de 125 mA a 4000 A. Los tres tipos son invasivo, no invasivo (núcleo sólido) y no invasivo (núcleo dividido).
