On December 3, 2024, the Digital Technology Ecosystem Conference opened, and during the main forum, Mr. Lü Pin, Chairman of China Telecom Quantum Group, officially announced the launch of the "Tianyan-504," the superconducting quantum computer with the largest bit count in China.

This groundbreaking achievement is the result of collaboration between China Telecom Quantum Group and its jointly-held subsidiary, GuoDun Quantum, with the system based on the "XiaoHong" chip. China Telecom Quantum highlighted that with the integration of the 504-bit quantum machine into the quantum computing cloud platform and its external availability, the "Tianyan" cloud platform has undergone a dual upgrade in both computational scale and performance types. The largest quantum computing cluster in China, consisting of one 24-bit, two 176-bit, and one 504-bit quantum computers, now provides world-class performance in five categories of high-performance simulators and the Cqlib quantum programming framework.

Mr. Lü stated that this milestone signifies China Telecom’s leading capability in manufacturing and delivering quantum computers, marking a shift in quantum computing from simply validating its "quantum superiority" to entering the era of specialized quantum simulation machines.

China Telecom's quantum computing endeavors are far-reaching. In November 2023, the company launched the "Tianyan" quantum computing cloud platform, the world’s first hyper-converged cloud platform capable of demonstrating quantum superiority. By integrating the supercomputing capabilities of "Tianyi Cloud" with 176 superconducting quantum bits, it offers accessible quantum computing services to various users.

Currently, China Telecom Quantum Group has already rolled out a range of quantum computing products and services. These include the independently controllable Tianyan series for quantum computing machine delivery and operations, serving the new type of integrated computing power centers; providing diverse quantum computing resources through the "Tianyan" cloud platform for universities and research institutions; and developing quantum computing application solutions for sectors such as education, meteorology, electricity, and AI.

As quantum computing continues to represent a new generation of information technology, it is becoming an increasingly critical area of global technological competition. With ongoing advancements in quantum computing technology and the expansion of its application fields, its potential in solving complex computational problems, optimizing algorithms, and accelerating data processing will continue to unfold. China Telecom's continued investments and innovations in quantum computing are expected to significantly bolster China's position in the global technological race.

Moreover, during the 2024 Quantum Technology and Industry Conference, Mr. Ke Ruiwen, Chairman of China Telecom, unveiled the "China Telecom Quantum Technology and Industry Development 2030 Action Plan." He emphasized that the plan includes one goal, five major projects, and ten key tasks. The central goal is to enhance original innovation capabilities, break through key quantum core technologies, establish globally leading quantum infrastructure, and create leading quantum application scenarios. By the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the goal is to accelerate the formation of new productive forces. The five projects will focus on quantum technology innovation, infrastructure development, industrial growth, talent cultivation, and ecosystem cooperation. Among the ten tasks, particular emphasis is placed on accelerating the commercialization of quantum computing.
