March 14, 2025 – Synopsys has announced the launch of its next-generation HAPS-200 prototyping and ZeBu-200 emulation systems, leveraging AMD’s latest Versal Premium VP1902 system-on-chip (SoC). These new solutions enhance hardware-assisted verification (HAV) capabilities, delivering unmatched performance, faster debugging, and optimized compilation times.

Next-Gen Hardware Verification for Complex Chip Designs

The HAPS-200 and ZeBu-200 systems are built on Synopsys' Emulation and Prototyping-Ready (EP-Ready) hardware architecture, providing seamless scalability for SoC and multi-die chip designs. This advancement addresses the growing complexity of next-generation semiconductor architectures, where designs are now reaching trillions of transistors and billions of logic gates.

The ZeBu Server 5, Synopsys’ enhanced emulation solution, now supports over 60 billion gates (BG), making it the most scalable emulation platform in the industry. Additionally, it features the highest density, ensuring optimized data center space utilization.

Industry-Leading Performance Enhancements

HAPS-200 Prototyping System

Up to 4x faster debugging performance than previous models.

Supports hybrid configurations with HAPS-100, scaling up to 10.8 BG.

Highest runtime efficiency with improved compilation speed.

ZeBu-200 Emulation System

Expands design capacity up to 15.4 BG, offering 2x faster runtime than ZeBu EP2.

Up to 8x increased debugging bandwidth, enabling in-depth system analysis.

Each module includes 200GB of trace memory, significantly improving workflow efficiency.

Synopsys and AMD: Powering AI-Driven Semiconductor Development

Ravi Subramanian, Chief Product Management Officer at Synopsys, emphasized the growing challenges in chip verification as AI and multi-die architectures push the boundaries of design complexity. He highlighted that the close partnership with AMD has resulted in the most advanced HAV solutions, ensuring maximum flexibility in prototyping and emulation environments.

NVIDIA Backs Synopsys' HAPS-200 for AI System Development

Industry leaders, including NVIDIA, are already leveraging HAPS-200 to accelerate AI computing advancements.

Narendra Konda, Vice President of Hardware Engineering at NVIDIA, noted that as AI computing demands grow exponentially, the ability to rapidly prototype GPU and CPU architectures is crucial. He emphasized that HAPS-200’s 50 MHz prototyping speed has been instrumental in enhancing NVIDIA’s software development efficiency, allowing the company to maintain an aggressive annual AI system development cycle.

Availability

The HAPS-200 prototyping system is now available for commercial deployment, while the ZeBu-200 emulation system is currently open for early-access customers.
