Vietnamese tech giant FPT Corporation has officially launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Semiconductor Research and Development Center in Da Nang, signaling a major step forward in the country’s ambitions to become a regional high-tech hub.

The newly opened center underscores FPT’s long-term vision to accelerate Vietnam’s digital transformation and enhance innovation capacity. According to company executives, the facility will focus on AI applications, semiconductor design, and emerging technologies, aiming to strengthen FPT’s technical expertise and market presence through collaborations with global academic institutions and technology companies.

Strategic Vision: Driving Growth and Innovation

FPT CEO emphasized that the center will play a pivotal role in expanding the company’s global technology footprint while nurturing Vietnam’s tech ecosystem. With global demand for AI and semiconductor technologies surging, the company aims to position itself as a key player in Southeast Asia, cultivating homegrown talent and developing export-ready solutions.

This move aligns with Vietnam’s broader national objectives of advancing technological self-reliance and becoming a critical node in the global tech supply chain.

Vietnam’s Rising Tech Profile

FPT’s announcement follows other noteworthy developments in Vietnam’s tech landscape. Recently, VinGroup, led by Vietnamese billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, sold its AI subsidiary to Qualcomm, a move that highlighted the growing international interest in Vietnamese innovation.

As more global tech firms enter Vietnam, FPT’s Da Nang-based R&D hub is set to play a crucial role in driving AI and semiconductor development. The company also plans to collaborate with universities and research institutions to ensure a pipeline of highly skilled engineers and researchers.

Future Ambition: Southeast Asia’s AI & Semiconductor Powerhouse

FPT has set bold goals for the new center. The company intends to transform it into one of Southeast Asia’s most influential AI and semiconductor R&D hubs, boosting Vietnam’s reputation on the global tech stage.

The center will support:

Development of AI algorithms and solutions tailored to enterprise and public sector needs

Design of semiconductor IP for consumer electronics, automotive, and IoT applications

Incubation of deep-tech startups and talent development programs

By integrating R&D, talent development, and strategic partnerships, FPT is positioning itself to be a regional leader in AI and semiconductor innovation.
