March 2025 – Taiwan-based Material-KY has officially launched its second upstream raw material plant, Lu Zhishen New Material, in Dezhou, Shandong. The new facility will double the company’s raw material supply, boosting production capacity to 6.5 million tons annually.

The grand commissioning ceremony was recently held at the Linyi Economic Development Zone in Dezhou, marking a significant step in Material-KY’s vertical integration strategy.

Doubling Supply: Strengthening Upstream Integration

According to Material-KY Chairman Wang Kezhang, the new facility will produce up to 30,000 tons of specialty acetic acid per year, supplying both Jinan Daziran New Material and Astek for filament and tow fiber production. Additionally, its plastic-grade acetate will be used in products such as eyeglass frames, hair clips, and shoelace tips, diversifying the company’s revenue streams in 2025.

He highlighted that the Lu Zhishen New Material plant will expand Material-KY’s raw material supply from 35,000 tons to 65,000 tons annually, providing greater control over material quality and production conditions to meet varied market demands.

Cost Reduction & Higher Margins

With increased in-house production, Material-KY expects a significant reduction in external procurement costs, which will ultimately enhance profit margins. Wang noted that the company’s ability to self-supply will drive higher efficiency, improve profitability, and reduce dependency on third-party suppliers.

He recalled that in 2017, when the first acetic acid cellulose factory, Zhongfeng Chemical, commenced operations, Material-KY successfully achieved full vertical integration, optimizing costs and expanding into new product segments.

Future Growth & Market Expansion

The new production facility not only strengthens Material-KY’s upstream supply chain but also aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to expand into diversified product applications. With an expected increase in gross profit margins, Material-KY is well-positioned to capitalize on new business opportunities in the high-performance materials sector.

With China’s growing demand for specialty materials, Material-KY’s latest investment is expected to further solidify its market position and drive sustainable growth.
